Stari Vrh

Slovenia Skiing Holidays near Skofja Loka -
a blackamoor and a mountain for skiing

The ski spot Stari Vrh is part of the Škofja Loka highlands, also called Loka Mountains. The terrain embraces the river valleys Poljanska dolina und Selška dolina.

In the Middle Ages the town Škofja Loka was built at the confluence of rivers Poljanska and Selška Sora. The town rapidly developed and for a long time presented itself as powerful centre of handicraft and commerce.

Still today interesting tracks of the former life and culture can be found.
In the upland above the town once a black servant saved the life of his patron, the governing bishop, during a bear attack.

excellent ski options at 580 -1200 m

Nowadays exactly there skiing fans are cavorting. Under the patronage of the town and thus the emblem, including the mentioned "blackmoor", Stari Vrh presents skiing options at 580-1200m. With the neighbour mountains Lubnik 1025m, Koprivnik 1393m, and Blegoš 1562m the surroundings of Stari Vrh guarantee a beautiful and extraordinary panorama. Additionally fantastic views onto the Karavanks, Steiner- and Sannthaler Alps are possible.

Chairlifts featuring heated seats

Four lifts transfer the skiers up to the slopes. One of them is a top highlight and quite new: a chairlift for six persons, featuring heated seats. The area of about 55 hectare provides slopes classified as "easy", "medium", and "difficult".

So beginners as well as advanced skiers will find their challenge. Additionally snowboarding and sledging can be enjoyed at specially prepared sites. Slopes for contests are available too.

Don’t miss the good solid food from Gorenjska

Schools offer courses in Alpine, Snowboarding and Carving. And those, who do not want to stop activities at night, may attempt nightskiing. Huts and farms nearby assure welfare referring warming drinks and good solid food
