Blegos (1562)Great walking experience with childrenBlegos is another great Hiking Tip for the Skofja Loka and Cerkno hills. Together with Porezen and Ratitovec it is the highest mountain in the Skofja Loka hills and one of the "big 3" subalpine peaks.
Offers a superb viewOn a day with fine weather you will get a superb view from its green top: you’ll see the highest peaks around Triglav, the Southern Bohinj Mountains, the Kamnik Alps and the Karavanke range as well as the surrounding summits. On days with clear atmosphere, you get a view even as far as Sneznik (in the south).Great for families
The time of walking is only 2 hours. We walked to Blegos last Summer and it was a great adventure especially for the children and grandparents. Even for the youngest child (6 years old) it was no problem to reach the top. Easy marked wayYour starting point is Crni Kal (1103 m) where you have shady parking options. A well marked way leads you to Blegos (1562). You go in direction of a hut called "Koca na Blegosu".After 3 km you reach a crossroad and turn left past the ramp. From here you have just a few minutes to the hut.
More than a gorgeous viewAfter our break we hiked on a meadow that was in the beginning quite sober. It then rises steeply. (Don’t say I didn’t warn you!) The last minutes the steep gets easier and you soon arrive the summit of Blegos where you will be rewarded with a gorgeous view to Skofja Loka and Cerkno Hills.
But there was more to enjoy
...play hide and seek in an old bunker from world war II or watching the cows cozily eating the fresh gras.
How to get to the starting point by carGo by car from Skofja loka in the direction of Gorenja vas. Before you reach Gorenja vas turn right in Poljane behind a bus station. Follow the road marks to Javorje. Here you drive left and follow marks towards Blegos. It is well signed. When you come to a crossroad you have arrived at Crni Kal – your starting point.
Special Tip for families with small children:When descending with small children you should pay great attention for the occasionally steepish paths or better use the not so steep asphalt path.
