The Otocec Castle
With the Otocec Castle you’ll for sure experience luxury in a medieval setting. It is situated on an island in the mid of the Krka River. Although I’ve only convinced myself from their excellent kitchen last year, I know for sure that it’s an unique and particularly attractive castle hotel
Mokrice Castle
The only one in whole Slovenia that preserves a working drawbridge is
Mokrice Castle.
Otocec and Mokrice castles are both near the Catez health spas and Dolenjske Toplice. And if you love golf you’ll find a fantastic golf course beside Mokrice too.
The best preserved castles
Do you love to visit castles? Then you don’t mind when we present to you also some other castles Slovenia has to offer. The following ones are of course no castles for accomodation but count among the best preserved castles in the country.
One of the most famous castles is Slovenia is maybe the Bled castle. For sure it is the oldest one in Slovenia. Built on a cliff it overlooks the lake with its unique view of the Julian Alps.
Near Postojna you’ll find the
Predjama castle
with rooms which are linked by secret paths to a karst cave.
The
Ptuj Castle
is in the center of Ptuj and gives the town a significant picture, while the Tabor Castle boasts top cuisine and great cultural events in Lasko. Posreda Castle is also worth a visit as the 12th century appearance has not change in the centuries.
