Lipica Slovenia

Lipica is home for the world-famous Lipican white horses popular through the Hofreitschule in Vienna. Embedded in the wide plains of the surrounding karst landscape it is situated in the southwest of Slovenia, not far from the Italian border. The area attracts with warm dry summers and mild winters.

Cultural Monument of Slovenia

Founded in the year 1580 by the Austrian Archduke Karl, son of the Emperor Ferdinand, the stud farm is a cultural monument of Slovenia. Nowadays it is classed as a selected holiday region, mainly for horse-fanciers but also invites to spend relaxing days walking through parks under trees of more than hundreds of years old.

attractive recreation programme

A well-cared-for touristic institution offers a wide range of activities. Swimming, tennis, or a ride in a coach are part of the attractive recreation programme. Not to forget the all-season opened beautiful golf course lipica.

If you enjoy art then we recommend a visit to the gallery of the famous avantgarde artist Avgust Cernigoj (1898-1985).

Skocjanske jame

The stalactite caverns of Skocjanske jame have been added to the Unesco List of World Heritage sites in 1987. They are located close to and south from the stud farm and worth-while a visit. Beside the Adelsberger grotto the caves and cataracts of St. Kanzian are one of the most fascinating sights in the area. An underground river runs through the tremendous caverns and limestone formations.

The adria is only an armlength away

Spending a day at the Adria takes you starting from Lipica about 40 minutes to the beach or a driving distance of five kilometres if you prefer the Italian Adria. Beautiful souvenirs are products of wood and metal, bobbin work and pottery.
