At the eastern side of these Alps there is a total area of over 1000 km consisting of numerous different routes to delight and impress mountain bikers as well as other kinds of cyclists and quite a few of the mountains here rise to alpine peaks.

To the north, south and west of this region are the neighbouring cycling networks of the Carinthian biking area of Austria, the Logarska valley and Jezersko, respectively. It is the most wooded region of the country and appears at first sight to be a completely different world.
Notranjska is an area of high plateaus and the landscape switches from greenery to lakes and then swiftly back to greenery once more. After a while the herds of roe deer you see on a regular basis fit nicely into the atmosphere of lively natured villages which seem to have been practically forgotten over the years.

Likewise one of the largest uninhabited forest areas of central Europe can also be found here at Javorniško - Snežnik, so when travelling around these parts its recommended that you take up the services of a professional guide who knows the local terrain well.Suitability of the Cycling TracksThe majority of the mountain bike parks and cycling tracks suit the average cycler of all ages and abilities and they are great for those who want to enjoy a peaceful biking experience and take in some of the local sights.
There are, however, some more challenging routes that would be more appropriate for expert riders to bike along. As well as the above mentioned guided tours, there are also MTB training courses on offer too.
