It is located in the southeatsern part of Slovenia, close to the Croatian border and with a distance of about 60km to Ljubljana. It is the most important town in the region Dolenjska, surrounded by the river Krka. After World War I the official name became Novo Mesto, but because of the situation by founding the town, the growing population and the excellent location Rudolfswerth was called so before, too.
