Radovljica - a pictorial idyl

The place Radovljica (in former times called "Radmannsdorf") has about 6100 inhabitants and lies in the northwest of Slovenia close to Bled. The motorway Villach - Ljubljana makes it possible to reach this wonderful place without any problems. Read here why I felt in love with this beautiful small city.

wonderful surrounding

Radovljica is surrounded in the north by the Karawanken and in the west by the Juli alps. In the southeast hill landscapes and even limit the small city, that was created in the 11. century. At this time it developed to a lively trade center. One acted mainly with salt, wine and products out of iron. Today one finds only some medium-size industrial companies in the city's pictorial lain.

Best time to go

The best time to go is in the warm season. The coffee houses at the traffic-calmed down main place invite to staying. The evening promenade lures humans those gladly to walk goes.

one of the most beautiful towns of Gorenjska

And the historical townscape of Radovljica sprays mediterrane atmosphere. The unusual situation on a terrace, 75 meters over the Save valley makes this place one of the most beautiful cities in Gorenjska.

don't miss the beekeeping museum

Not only is the attendance of this old small town with its Renaissance houses recommended to bee breeders. Worth seeing above all the "Kirchhof" and the beautiful narrow side lanes are in the historical town centre. In the beekeeping museum in the old prince lock "Thurnov" one gives oneself the Slovenian passion for bees and honey. The issued "Stirnbrettchen" with its naive painting draws a Portrait of rural life.

True palate joys promised!

A few houses further Gostilna Lectar continues to cook rich meals, which promise true palate joys, expect the visitor at the lying place of the flower balcony in the restaurant.
