Slovenia Airport -
Flights to Slovenia

Find here a Slovenia airport overview. Slovenia boasts three airports of international status, along with one military airport and twelve sport airfields. Let's take a look at them in more detail.

Ljubljana Jože Pucnik Airport

Previously known as Brnik Airport, this is Slovenia's main airport and it is located 20 kilometers north of the city heading towards Kranj.

It recently acquired its new name from a contemporary Slovenian statesman and the international code for this airport is LJU.

The Slovenian airline, Adria connects Ljubljana with European destinations such as Amsterdam, Barcelona, Birmingham, Brussels, Copenhagen, Dublin, Frankfurt, Istanbul, London, Manchester, Moscow, Munich, Paris, Rome, Warsaw, Vienna and Zurich, and there are also cheap flights to Ljubljana from many other European cities.

All of the information you could possibly need about arrivals and departures can be discovered on the airports website www.lju-airport.si along with lots of other useful information.

Within the airport arrivals there is a specific meeting point, a café and a tourist office where maps of the area and tips about travelling from one place to another in Slovenia are available.

The left hand side of the departure hall sports the check-in area (all check-ins are subject to the European air safety rules) and the Adria Airlines sales office.

You will also find the sales offices for other airlines using the airport and these include Air France, CSA, Easy Jet, JAT Airlines, LOT, Malev, LOT, and Turkish Airlines.

The departure hall offers you the opportunity to enjoy your last "gibanica" or Union beer from the tap accompanied by a croissant, sandwich or pizza.

There is also a souvenir shop, a currency exchange, a self service restaurant and a bar and if you really want to splash out, the luxury of the VIP saloon will cost you an extra 70 Euros.

Getting To and From Ljubljana Airport

Operating every hour or so the number 28 public bus will take you from the airport to Ljubljana.

You buy your ticket from the bus driver as you embark and it costs around 4 Euros for the three quarters of an hour trip.

There is also a faster private shuttle service in operation but it runs less frequently. Both the public and private services will take you to the small bus station in Ljubljana which is located close to the railway station.

Alternatively you can jump in a taxi cab outside the airport arrival doors and be taken into Ljubljana at a cost of around 35 Euros.

If you are travelling to and from this Slovenia airport by car, details of the airport´s car park facilities and how to reach them can be found on their website.

Second largest Slovenia Airport:
Maribor Edvard Rusjan

Located close to the famous tourist attraction city of Maribor, Maribor Airport is Slovenia's second airport. It has one main terminal building, two runways and although it is only a small airport, there is a selection of restaurants for you to use and duty free goods on offer to purchase.

Portorož Airport

Portorož Airport is Slovenias third airport and it can be found close to the village of Sacovlje an area particularly abundant with tourist attractions.

The airport is modern and offers the traveler refreshments in restaurants, car rental, and duty free goods facilities within its superb lounge area. It caters for tourist travel as well as sports flights, business travel and cargo too.
