The countryside turns into a scenic white arena, ready for all kinds of winterfun.
Find here an overview of the best slovenian ski centres.

Slovenia's Sport No. 1

Did you know that skiing is Slovenia’s Sport No. 1? It's really a slovene passion. Children here begin to ski already at an early age. Within Slovenia you’ll find many ski centres with ski lifts and ski schools best prepared for your perfect ski holidays.

Sidebar:
Slovenia has the longest tradition in skiing in Central Europe in general. The autochtonous bloke skis are considered among the oldest means of transportation in Europe.

Kranjska Gora

The largest and the best equipped winter tourist center in Slovenia is Kranjska Gora.

It’s especially popular in the scene of World Cup Alpine Skiing. In early January the world elite skiers compete in slalom and giant slalom on the white slopes. Kranjska Gora has more than thirty kilometres of groomed alpine ski trails and more than forty kilometres of cross country trails.

Pohorje (1347 m)

A popular choice is also Maribor’s Pohorje.

It’s easy accessible with relatively short lift queues and very varied downhill pistes. It hosts the annual World Cup women's downhill Golden Fox competition. Special events there are also the Pohorje Torch Parties: Party goers ascend the slope at night with a glass of bubbly. With flaming torches they ski to a barbecue.

Krvavec (1970 m)

Krvavec in the northeast of Kranj is one of Slovenia’s premier ski resort. Because of it’s excellent maintained slopes and its proximity to Kranj (8 km) and Ljubljana (17 km) it has sometimes very long lift queues.

Planica:

Here in Planica the world record for ski jumping was set. It’s the cradle of ski flying. Planica hosts the three day ski jumping World Championship every year. It’s also the famous place, that man first jumped over 100 m as well as over 200 m.
