Trails Biking

The Mountain Bike Trails of Bohinj

When you are looking for mtb trails biking, then you have come to the right place. Bohinj, a glacial valley known for the lake of the same name, lies at the centre of the Julian Alps. Here you will discover the rich cultural heritage and alpine surroundings of the area.

The valley is the part of the Triglav National Park and a well known attraction point for visitors. Exploring this beautiful Alpine location is best done by mountain bike as there is not enough space for the construction of wide roads between the mountains.

On the up side, you will be able to ride along without seeing any motorized travel making your trip all the more enjoyable. It's the perfect place for a spot of Sunday cycling with the family but it's equally as interesting for the expert bikers too.

Lake Bohinj - a paradise for cyclists

Lake Bohinj is a paradise for cyclists with more than enough routes to explore whatever your level of biking. As well as ways and roads there are numerous way-marked biking trails to try out too. Running along the left bank of the Sava Bohinjka to Bohinjska Bistrica, the Klodič Cycling Path continues to Lake Bohinj along the foot of Rudnica and when it reaches Stara Fužina it bends into the Upper Bohinj Valley and carries on to Srednja Vas. This provides both the individual cyclist and family groups with an 11 km long cycle path, the former usually integrating this particular trail into a longer and more advanced cycling route.

Great Waterfalls Sights

If you like to see waterfalls, then you will not be disappointed here as there is one at the source of the Bistrica and others such as Mostnica, Grmečica and Peračica which are all well worth a visit. If you so choose, you can ride practically all the way to the well known falls at Savica and Ribnica.

The sights you will see of the valley, the lake, Bohinjska Bistrica and the Triglav Mountains as you ride across the slopes of the southern Bohinj Mountains are absolutely stunning. Being so high up also affords you the luxury of seeing exactly where you are going to go next!
